Detroit Tigers

The Tigers wrapped up their winter season with a few players reaching the finals of their leagues, and another player switching not only leagues, but countries.

Licey's trip to the Dominican League finals meant an extended season for at least one Tigers player, but the most prominent Detroiter in winter ball had since wrapped up.

First baseman Carlos Pena, who had played for Licey since early in the season, finished up during round-robin semifinal play, as scheduled, to rest up for Spring Training. The wear and tear of winter ball showed in his later statistics: He went 1-for-22 in the semifinals with a home run, two RBIs, seven walks and eight walks.

With Pena out, another Tiger ended up putting on a hitting show in the Dominican, this time against Licey.
